September 25: Coming In to Go Out Sunday

numana-slide-web.jpg

September 25, 2011 is our high attendance day at Waterloo Road.  This day was formerly known as “Round-Up Day.”  We hope and pray that you will invite friends and family to this special day.  We are going to provide a great lunch and it is still going to be a fun day of fellowship.  However, this year will be a bit different.  We have been learning about how we come in to church in order to be equipped to go out of church and make a difference.  On September 25, we are going to have, on-site, a great way for you and your family to “go out” and make a difference in the lives of people who need our help desperately.

On September 25th, Waterloo Road will partner with Numana to provide at least 20,000 meals for the hungry in Kenya.  We will purchase the food, package the meals, and box them up and ship them ourselves.  It will be a total hands-on opportunity to serve.  We have committed to making 20,000 meals which is a cost of $6,000.  We are hoping to double our commitment and raise $12,000 in order to send 40,000 meals to the starving people of Kenya.  We are taking a special offering this coming Sunday, September 11, to raise the funds.  Please pray about what your family will give.

Disaster Relief

Hello friends-

We are one of 150 churches in the OKC area that work together to accomplish ministry bigger than us.  We will be working as a support center to receive and distribute donations for Canadian County tornado victims.  This coming Sunday morning (5/29) we will have an area inside the west doors of the church to put the needs listed below.

This is how our church will help right now:

- Cell phone chargers

- Food

- CLEAN and ready to wear clothing and shoes for men, women and children of all sizes.

- Toiletries, Medicines/Vitamins, etc.

- Towels and washcloths.

If someone would like to help deliver this one Thursday and Monday, let me know.

If you want to give a donation, mark it “Disaster Relief.”  It will be used to help people in this area or in the Joplin, MO area, unless marked differently.

I encourage you to pass this on to others.

I rejoice to see what God wants to do.

-Griff

WRBC News Update

March 10, 2010
Hello friends,
What a great month we have had at Waterloo Road Baptist Church. I am thanking the Lord for His
goodness. Thanks for your part in this.

Over the last 3 weeks, we have averaged over 470 in Sunday School and over 560 in worship. Ten families
have joined our Church in the last four weeks. God has moved in a great way.

On top of that, after the first Sunday of March we have caught up from the snowstorm and are ahead for the
year (barely) on our budget. Keep praying for others to join us on mission with God. You have given above
your tithes to our Road Construction campaign. So far, over $180,000 has been given to Road Construction
and this does not include another $90,000 that will be received soon for the sale of our second house. As
we construct this building, we have not had to borrow one penny yet. By the way, the youth building slab
was poured this past Saturday.

Two things I ask of you. Please give God the glory and please pray, pray, pray. (See John 10:10)
I also have some sad, yet exciting news. Ryland Russell, our media director for the last 2 and a-half years,
has accepted the call to be the Worship and Media Arts Minister at Central Baptist Church in Owasso. While
I am extremely sad that Ryland is leaving, I know his passion and talent for music will be utilized in a great
way in Owasso. Pray for him, Mindy, Isaac, and baby number two. They are a great young couple. We will
have a fellowship for Ryland on Sunday night March 21 following the evening service. Ryland’s last Sunday
with us will be Easter Sunday, April 4. Watch for more info on this.

What now? We are presently praying and seeking God’s will to find a replacement for Ryland’s position.
This job description will be very similar to what Ryland does as director of media, with some other
responsibilities. We will not form a search committee for this position. Historically this position has always
been found through the personnel committee and the staff. We will keep you updated on the process.
Thanks for praying.

On another note, most of you know that Danny Smith, our education minister for the last nine years, will be
retiring this year. As Danny approaches the age of sixty-six, he has decided to retire. We love and
appreciate Danny and Jayne very much. We look forward to them being active and a part of our Church for
years to come. Please pray for them.

At the appropriate time, we will form a search committee to fill Danny’s position. In all likelihood, this will not
happen for several more months. We will keep you updated. Please pray for our Church in this important
decision.

God has placed a wonderful staff at The Road for me to work with. I hope you feel the same way. Let them
know of your appreciation.

Shari and I also appreciate you very much. Your prayers and encouragement in our first year has been
noticed, appreciated and needed. May God bless you and your family.

Remember—the best is yet to come,
Griff
