BIBLE-CENTEREDNESS
As Pastor Heath says, everything comes back to the Gospel! You shared some great feedback on this section, and I enjoyed studying your responses. We have some room to grow, and I can't wait to see how God blesses us in this area!
Now on the the survey questions and responses!
Q: How well does our church support your spiritual growth through helping you understand the basic foundations of the Bible?
A: 85% toward "Very Well"
Comments:
The overwhelming majority of responses ranged from 5-10 on a scale of "Not Well at All" to "Very Well". This helps us know that we're doing OK, which is encouraging, but of course we have room to grow. That's a challenge we are eager to focus on!
Q: Our church helps me live out the teachings of the Bible in my everyday life.
A: 84% agreement
Comments:
Again, this is encouraging. No one responded below 5/10, so we know we have a good foundation to build on here. While we are happy with this, I want you to know we're never satisfied; we always want to equip you better, disciple you more deeply, and help you live like Jesus every day!
Q: Realistically, how often do you read the Bible?
Comments:
According to your responses, about a third of us read the Bible every day, and the vast majority read at least a couple times per week. Clearly we have room to stretch and grow here. And I'm encouraged by your comments, because several who report not reading very often also expressed a deep desire to study the Scripture more consistently. This points to an opportunity for growth that motivates us Pastors! If this describes you, I recommend getting on board with our 2025 Bible Reading Plan. Just start with today's passage, do it again tomorrow, and repeat!
Another correlation I noticed is that some who read the Word infrequently also reported lower numbers in spiritual growth and living out Scripture's commands each day. This makes sense, and again we want to encourage you to develop the habit of daily Bible reading as a foundational discipline of your spiritual walk. Give us a shout if you need ideas or inspiration!
Q: Regarding Bible-Centeredness, what else would you like us to know?
Some of your comments:
"I think [the Bible] is intimidating and I don't know where to start."
"I have a hard time focusing on a Bible study or choosing a time to study."
"I am pleased that our church focuses primarily on the Gospel during services."
"I appreciate that Heath emphasizes his reliance on Scripture during the sermon."
"I'm glad the church started the daily chronological reading plan! It really has opened my eyes! I wish I'd done it 25 years ago!!!"
"Please hold more classes for struggling believers."
"Sometimes [Bible reading] feels like a chore"..."don't know how to make it feel less like a check list."
