PRAYER CULTURE
Jesus told us his house is to be a "house of prayer for all nations" (Is 56:7). Believers are told to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thess 5:17) and come to God "in everything, with prayer and petition" (Phil 4:6).
So how are we doing in living lives marked by prayer, and how is our church helping to build this prayerful culture?
Here are the survey questions and our responses!
Q: Our church helps me develop habits of prayer that allow me to connect with God.
A: Average 74% agreement
Q: I have seen the power of prayer on display in our church
A: Average 85% agreement
Comments:
These are encouraging results! We still have room to grow, but most of the time we feel WRBC supports us in prayer, and that prayer really is "powerful and effective" (James 5:16).
One of our main goals as Pastors is to lead out in prayer and constantly equip you to pray more fervently and effectively. In fact, I'll ask you to begin praying now for our church in 2026. We believe the Lord is calling us to deepen our practice of prayer individually and as a congregation. (Spoiler alert! 🙂
Now let's get to your comments from the survey. Here's what we asked and what you said:
What is the biggest, boldest thing you are asking the Lord to do right now?
"I am asking the Lord to heal my son-in-law of cancer, and to save my dear friend who has not responded to the gospel."
"Make me bolder, more confident to share the gospel with others."
"I am praying and reminding myself of the Lord's goodness even when I don't understand why (hard situations come into our lives)."
"For my kids to reconnect with God."
"Deliverance from a toxic situation."
We're asking God for healing, salvation for family and friends, purpose, calling, restored marriages, deliverance from addiction, healing from grief, sanctification, employment, new churches and schools across the world, unity in our church, national revival...
Regarding Prayer, what else would you like us to know?
"Encourage Connect Groups to seek not only physical but spiritual needs and pray for these each week."
"My prayer life is more inconsistent than it should be."
"I have a hard time focusing when trying to pray."
"How does one pray when the only word you have is 'help'?"
"There is no greater power of prayer than in seeing those I love come to know the Lord."
We're praying for more discipline, more confidence, blessing for persecuted Christians around the world, consistency in prayer, and freedom for our congregation to come forward to pray during our worship services.
