NEW SCHEDULE
It seems like ages ago that we changed our Sunday schedule and took this survey, but the results still offer helpful insights as we navigate change. I encourage you to remember that God's Church is a vital, living organism; healthy living things grow; and as God continues to grow WRBC - spiritually and in number - we want to be faithful and obedient to make the changes that become necessary to complete His mission for us: Connecting People to Jesus!
Here are the survey questions and our responses:
Q: How are you adjusting to our new Sunday schedule?
A: 83% adjusted
Comments:
The vast majority of us are feeling mostly adjusted to the schedule. Of course some concerns arise any time change becomes necessary. But mostly, we seem to be adapting successfully.
Q: What do we need to know about our Sunday schedule?
Your comments:
"Having only one youth [Connect Group] time limits when adults can meet."
"Definitely a change but it doesn't seem to have hurt anything."
"I think the church is adjusting well to the change."
"Two services are a great way to utilize our space but to some extent sacrificing church cohesion."
"I miss our Sunday Connect Group, but I'm adjusting."
"The time and patience in rolling out the new schedule was extraordinary. I could physically and emotionally feel our class adjusting and supporting the changes during that time."
Consider:
Any time change becomes necessary, it takes courage and resolve to follow through. I commend you, church, for doing the hard work!
We have definitely faced challenges; some unforeseen and many we had anticipated. We recognize and are actively brainstorming ways to help even out the attendance in each worship hour; offer Connect Groups for all ages in both hours; and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to worship, serve, and engage in a small group. We covet your prayers and welcome your insights as God continues to grow His Church here at Waterloo!
MINISTRIES OF THE CHURCH
WRBC has a lot going on - just check out our weekly newsletter! God calls us to fulfill a mission: Connecting People to Jesus, but He doesn't give us every detail on how we are to do it. We form church ministries based on needs of our members and the world around us. Here are the questions and responses focused on the ministries we offer:
Q: What ministries do you think we should discontinue?
Your comments:
"I can't think of anything we do that is superfluous."
"I believe where the Lord has given people a passion, they will support a particular ministry. Where no such person exists, those ministries should be reevaluated for continuation."
"I think that all of our ministries exist for a reason."
Q: What new ministry opportunities do you think we should add?
Your comments:
"A designated multigenerational Women's minister."
"Don't think we should add right now. Instead focus on making what we have better."
"i wonder if packing bags for the food pantry would be a way to get more members involved and help out the office staff when someone comes in for food."
"Celebrate Recovery, mental health support groups, support for ex military"
"I think that the apartment ministry was very valuable to the church."
"The church is failing to support people who are divorced."
"Single mother support/ministry days"
"Embracing Generations Game Night - host a board game night for everyone to come play games together."

Pastor Ron

Mike Hanes connect group takes care of the food pantry. It would be hard to sack up food for a person because everyone has different needs.
That’s true. We’re thankful for all those who keep our food pantry stocked and organized. Our office staff is able to quickly fill bags with groceries for people who need help.
